York midfielder Lee Bullock looks set to join first division Cardiff City, after being given a four-day trial at the Welsh club.
Cardiff are expected to table a bid of around £150,000 for Bullock, York's top scorer this season and longest-serving player currently at the club.
Cardiff Manager Lenny Lawrence said: "We have been watching Lee for quite some time now and he is just one of a number of players we have our eye on,"
Lawrence is expected to watch the player in a series of internal matches, in his preferred position as a midfielder. York manager Chris Brass has been playing Bullock up front recently, as part of his ongoing search for a succesful strike partnership.
However Bullock has not excelled in this role and Lawrence has stated that he would be used as a midfielder should he join Cardiff: "He is a talented player and we see him as an out-and-out midfielder."
Bullock, 22, is reported to be excited at the prospect of moving up two divisions, and has been given his current manager's backing: "He's gone there to train with them this week. It gives the lad an opportunity to impress and everybody knows that they are interested," said Chris Brass.
"I have said before we would never stand in his way so, fingers crossed, he does well."
Bullock has been the subject of transfer speculation for many weeks, attracting the attention of a number of higher division clubs, including Nottingham Forest. |
