So who in YY likes them? Got two Number one Singles (like that means anything nowadays) and the fastest selling debut album.

Not bad going from a band that were giving out free demos a year ago...

Thoughts on them?

Yeah I like them, aren't many bands similar to them at the moment. They remind me quite a bit of the Jam. Hope they do alright and don't turn out to be another one album wonder.

Their is a couple better on the album than that, although ' When the Sun goes down' is a good song.

It's not too bad, probably worst song on album, but it's not awful.

I knew the music in this country was at an all time low...but these clowns must surely have just killed it.

They're as bad as 'The Streets'. in the way that their singing is actually poor, they just speak odd lyrics very quickly in a sort of rhythm, and rely on the half-decent drums and guitar in the background.

This mood just reflects the state of this nation...depressed, messed up and confused.

Why has 50 Cent killed music? you can't just say that and not put a reason. Just because he's not your cup of tea, doesn't make him a clown or not very good. What he does - does very well, or he would not have the money he has today. I don't particularly like Arctic Monkeys, or any of the foreign music Tommi listens to, but i still respect the fact that they have done very well and made money out of it, whilst (most importantly) entertaining pretty much the whole nation.

Just because you personally don't like 50 Cents music doesn't mean that the millions of people who have bought his albums and watched his movies, bought his clothes and seen him live don't like him.

It irritates me that some people can't respect other genres of music.

Ypu've probably never heard any of the music I listen to...and many of them haven't made a lot of money out of it, a lot of them do it for the fun and happiness, and they're not all rich millionaires like the bands and artists in this country.

Then good luck to them! That's exactly what i'm trying to point out. If they entertain fans around the world then that can only be a good thing, i don't see why Josh can pass comment, and even have a go at 50 Cent and the like, probably without listening to his music. I have heard some of the music you listen to Tommi (O-Zone etc) and whilst i wouldn't go out and buy the CD, i fully respect the fact that some people may enjoy it. Just because i don't listen to your music doesn't mean i'm going to call them a clown, or say its sh*t and that they've killed music.

I see your arguement but I have no respect at all for someone like 50 Cent.

I'm trying to make a list of reasons why but I guess the best reason I can make is he is a total prat.

I haven't heard all of Tommi's music because I don't like it but the artists don't go posing like 50 Cent and mentioning all the time how they got shot however many times. Yeah niceone, but we all got bored of that ages ago. I mean he has no respect for women at all as you can see from his videos and I've just been reading some of his lyrics on the internet and they are pretty appaling really.

Where as the Pete Docherty's of the rock n roll world do? The women bring it on themselves. And in his last 3 albums he's mentioned being shot 9 times about twice, which proves that point wrong. I can where you're coming from about the lyrics though. But i prefer to listen to the beats rather than the lyrics.[/b]

To be fair, Kanye West has some good songs, and some of 50 cent songs are listenable. I prefer KW and 50C to the modern English rubbish like the Arctic Monkeys etc.

'Through the wire' and 'Jesus Walks' are good songs by Kanye West, mainly because Janesy says, they have good beats, and the lyrics often aren't too important in making a good song.

In that case I'd recomend Goldfrapp, some really great tunes and surprisingly really good live. I'll upload some for you at some point if you like, unless you have already heard some and think it's s***e. Wink

A song with really naff lyrics can spoil a song though, if you know what I mean.

Can and do are two different words. I don't see that Arctic Monkeys lyrics are really any good anyway, ''I bet you look good on the dancefloor" Isn't that just a bunch of teenage lads perving on some lass/lad (if your gate swings that way) dancing?

and i've heard Goldfrapp and it's not to my taste.

It's about normal situations that people can relate to.

Just been having a read through some of 50's lyrics, http://www.letssingit.com/?/50-cent-candy-shop-626jgz9.html

Pretty shallow really.

you continue to pick on Candyshop when it is the worst song he has possibly ever made.

Some of the Arctic Monkeys lyrics are sh*te! http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/arcticmonkeys/mardybum.html

This proves their shallow:
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/arcticmonkeys/stilltakeyouhome.html

Infact practically all their lyrics are about them perving on women dancing! So you can't exactly have a go at 50 Cent for sh*t lyrics or being shallow!

I wouldn't say I'm an Artic Monkeys fan though, I'm not going to go out and buy their album and support them. I just think they are a decent new band and their album which I downloaded is alright.

What about "In da club" or whatever it was called.

Here's a novel idea, people have DIFFERENT tastes in music and people telling them they're wrong on an internet message board isn't going to make them change their minds.

During the 1920s and early 1930s, Latvia enjoyed an elected, republican government. Its constitution was adopted on February 15, 1922. It acknowledged that the people themselves were sovereign, and provided for the proportional election of their representatives by all Latvians of at least 21 years of age. As with most democratic governments, it was a multi-party system, with between 22 and 28 parties at any given time, holding at least one seat in the parliament, called the Saeima. Governments were usually organized by coalitions of parties, forming a large enough percentage to control the whole.
