The Silkmen have signed City striker Jon Parkin, who is expected to make his debut for Macclesfield against Carlisle United on Saturday.

Originally signing as a defender from Barnsley, almost exactly two years ago, he was converted into a striker by then manager Terry Dolan. Jon's best performances for City were almost always up front but this season he has been plagued by injury and a loss of form.

Still only 22, he began his career with Barnsley where he featured in 13 games, including a memorable appearance against Newcastle United, before loan moves to Hartlepool and York. His loan spell at City was successful so he was awarded a permanent contract.
He went on to play almost 60 times for City, 41 of these coming last season where he also weighed in with 11 goals, including scoring the winning goal against Macclesfield.
