George Best has come to the end of the long road of his ill-health.
Best was being treated in the intensive care unit at a private hospital (cromwell) after he suffered a lung infection.
Overnight his condition deteriorated and the doctor said there was no longer anything doctors could do.
The former Man u and Northern Ireland star had a liver transplant in 2002 after the liver before failed following years of alcohol.
He ignored people telling him to stay off the booze after the operation, was admitted to the Cromwell on October 1 suffering from a flu-like infection.
And now the doctors have said his hours of living are limited, and they were George best passed away this afternoon 25th November 2005
Poor poor man now he is a legend Its a shame to hear him go

You're right Dave, it's a shame - a terrible shame. Once of the best players to have graced our domestic leagues, now a dying man who was dependant on alcohol to get by. I hope the photo he allowed the press to release a few days back shows you the full affects of what alcohol does to you. All the best George.

He retired early because he drank too much (at 27) he'll now die early because of it. Terrible shame my ar*e, brought it on himself.

A brilliant player on the pitch.
A waste of a life off it but he will clearly be remembered more for the bad things, as everyone is. |

George Best once said:

Most of my money I spent on women and drink... the rest I just wasted. |
I remember laughing like a loony the first time I heard that. Not so funny today though

He said the greatest honour of his life was when Pele said he was the greatest player he had ever seen. Or something along those lines. Never seen him play but heard people talk about him and read a book on him and sounds a great player. Nice guy too when I have seen him on the Panel with Jeff Stelling and the boys. Think he'd donating his organs too which is good of him. Watching Sky Sports News now waiting for the inevitable. |

Hmm, i don't mean this in a harsh way but surely most of his organs would be pretty much useless due to excessive alcohol abuse over the years?
I'm not sure if alcohol affects the whole body (surely it must?) or just the Liver.

Well he won't be able to donate his liver or kidneys
Lungs have internally bled, heart will be full of god knows what.
Ideas right, unfortunatley I can't see it happening.
