There's nothing 'council' about Norton I'll have you know. We're all very posh. Well compared to Stockton we are, like.

Crook Town 0 - 3 Norton
Arngrove Northern League Division 2 11/08/07

Norton worked the ball down the left wing early in the game and a fierce left foot shot by Gordon was well cut out by Chris Beckett. Paul Wilson was unlucky when he beat two defenders to the ball and spotting the keeper off his line his chip went just wide of the right hand post. Andrew Bellew did well to head a right wing cross for a corner as Gordon was lurking on the post to score what would have been a simple chance. The rest of the half was a midfield tussle the only worthwhile shot from Thomson of Norton well held by Stephen Craggs just under the bar.

At the start of the second half a free kick by Gordon was misjudged by Craggs but Gaston placed his shot well over the bar. Norton took the lead when Baverstock seamed to ease Beckett out of the way from behind but the ref deemed otherwise and he found his way clear to beat Craggs low on his right hand post. Crook then turned on the pressure but never looked like braking down a stubborn Norton defence. Shots from Stephen Houlahan and Andrew Singlewood were straight at the keeper .After a bad miss kick by Craggs the Norton keeper Craig Thorns had a glorious chance to equalize but shot straight into the keepers hands.

Then it was the Crook keepers turn to make a bad mistake and he was punished. Mishandling a cross the ball fell to Gaston who slipped the ball under the keepers despairing dive. Norton scored from a penalty in the last minute when Laing was upended in the box and he made no mistake from the spot.

3 Norton & Stockton Ancients 1 1 0 0 3 0 3

Guisborough Town 1 Norton And Stockton Ancients 3

Norton started the game with a high tempo and had a couple of early chances but it took till the 10 minute when a corner from Nathan Mulligan was slotted home by Marcus Laing. The rest of the first half was pretty much even with both sides having chances although Norton's keeper Steven Lawson saved well from a free kick from just outside the area.

The second period started very much the same with Norton scoring again on 55 minutes through Steven Roberts after some good work and cross by Richard Dacombe, Guisborough Town then pressed forward with various chances and scored from a corner when Craig Skelton was left unmarked and scored from 3 yards out.

With Guisborough piling on the pressure Norton scored a third through Jamie Dawson after some good work down the left by Nathan Nulligan.

Yeah I had great fun listening to Barry Parker.

He was putting a really positive spin on it and suddenly I felt so much better.

Who do they get in the next round then ?

Surely it can't compete with the undoubted tie of the round Selby Town v Pickering Town. Shocked It would be nice to see a few extra on the gate with York having a free Saturday on the 1st September.
