York City travel to Essex looking to equal a club record of 7 successive wins that dates back from the 1960s. The club's fantastic form has marked a real turnaround in their fortunes, and they arrive firmly in control of their destiny in fourth place. Canvey are almost safe following a useful 1-0 win at Altrincham, but will still be looking for the points to completely secure their Conference status.

Team News

For City, Billy McEwan is unlikely to change the side that has been so successful in recent weeks. McEwan admitted that his side hadn't been at their best during a 1-0 win against Gravesend last Saturday, and also is left frustrated by the continuing cold weather which led to the postponement of yet another reserve game. He commented, "It's also disappointing as we had one or two youngsters lined up to play at Doncaster. Hopefully, we will get the chance to look at them on Monday but it all depends on the weather." Jamie Price has returned to training but was unable to gain match practice in the reserves, so he is unlikely to feature on Saturday. As for the rest of the team, James Dudgeon, last week's matchwinner, will continue to keep Mark Hotte on the bench, and former Scarborough captain Neil Bishop should play in midfield with the side having won 6 out of 6 since his arrival at City.

For Canvey, last week's 1-0 win marked the return of leading scorer Lee Boylan, who proclaimed, "It's great to be back" after netting the winner in stoppage time. Boss Jeff King is likely to restore Boylan to the team, after he was injured last year by a goal post in an FA Trophy game. Otherwise, the team should be similar to the one that won last week.

Possible Teams

City:porter; thomas, dudgeon, mcgurk, peat; convery, panther, bishop, dunning; donaldson, bishop. Substitutes: reid, merris, hotte, o'neill, webster.

Canvey - LLDLWW - Burton Albion (H), Southport (A), Hereford United (H), Stevenage Borough (A), Crawley Town (H), Altrincham (A).

Last Season

Canvey 4-0 City

A City centre back pairing with a combined age of over 70 just couldn't keep up with the pace in an embarassing game for the Reds.
