York City Supporters' Trust writes...
Trust AGM and Elections
The Trust's AGM will be on the evening of Thursday 15th December at the Tempest Anderson Hall (in the Museum Gardens). The AGM will be immediately followed by a Club Fans Forum. We hope to see many City supporters attending for what will be both an interesting and enjoyable evening (in addition to the few business formalities).
The closing date for nominations for people to stand for a Trust Board position is Friday 28th October. If any member wishes to submit a drafted resolution, they must also be submitted to the Trust Secretary by the same date.
There are four Trust Board positions to be filled. The current Trust Board comprises City supporters with a variety of age, backgrounds and careers. The election is open to all eligible Trust Members. The Trust could particular benefit from contributors to fundraising efforts, communications, the treasurer role and general business experience. Last year there were four candidates for the four positions; no election was required. Unless more people volunteer, it is possible that there will insufficient volunteers to fill the vacancies in December 2005. Please do consider standing for appointment to the Trust Board to help run York City.
Fundraising Co-ordinator
As already known by quite a few folk, life-long City fan, Trust Member and former YCFC employee James Richardson has volunteered to help the Trust and Club in respect of fundraising activities.
One of the most welcome developments over the past few years has been the creation of a number of proactive supporter groups amongst the City fanbase. More and more supporters have mobilised to support York City, not just on matchdays, but throughout the rest of the year. These new supporter groups add to the likes of the longer-established YDF, the Supporters Club and the Vice Presidents. The 'new' support has included a whole host of fundraising activities that has significantly contributed towards City fans achieving over £70,000 of fundraising in each of 2003/04 and 2004/05 (on top of the £1/2 million that was raised for the 'Save City' Rescue Package in 2002/03). As often reiterated, fundraising remains extremely important, to help sustain the Club's operations (primarily the team on-the-pitch, the football management, the ground and training facilities, and the youth development system). Going forward, the Trust/Club would like to sustain/grow fundraising and we hope James can help all us City fans achieve that.
The role that James has taken on is mainly about encouragement and co-ordination. For the role to be successful, it requires help and communication from other City fans, particularly the various supporter groups. Aspects of the role include:
- Collating a rolling-diary of events (The York City Diary) to help avoid clashes, sustain momentum throughout the year, and increase participation/success.
- Helping to keep track of monies raised (past) and hoped to be raised (future).
The hard work, efforts and achievements will all continue to be with the supporters (and their respecttive groups) themselves. This is just a way of helping everyone work together in a better way for the benefit of Our York City Football Club. Please do what you can to support James and the Trust/Club. If anyone has any fundraising plans, ideas, time to get more involved - PLEASE get in touch. We need more help. Please write, email () or visit the Info Desk in the Club Shop.
