The Trust have asked me to post this for them (not 'cos it mentions me!  ) although some may have already seen details in last Saturday's YE Press........

York City Supporters' Trust writes…
Following a Board meeting last weekend, City’s Trust has announced some changes to the Trust Board.
Firstly, Richard Snowball has decided to relinquish his role as Trust Chairman, but will continue to serve on the Trust Board. After serving as Trust Chairman for three years, following his appointment to the position in June 2002, Richard has decided to step aside.
Commenting on his time at the helm, Richard said:
“It has been a great honour to act as Trust Chairman for three years during which York City has experienced a roller-coaster ride of emotions. During that time, achievements have included the supporters rescuing the Club from the brink of extinction, being awarded ‘Trust of the Season’ and regaining the ownership of Bootham Crescent.” Richard added, “Through the Trust, the supporters now own and control York City and there are a different set of challenges to rise to.”
For the time being, the Trust Board will re-allocate the Chairman’s responsibilities and the situation will be reviewed in due course.
Secondly, David Potter has decided to resign his Trust Board position. David was appointed to the Trust Board in December 2004. David has been heavily involved in many fundraising projects for the benefit of York City over recent years and was instrumental in establishing the vibrant York Minstermen supporters group last year. David will continue to be actively involved in Social Club events and other projects.
Commenting on his departure from the Trust Board, David said “I have so many other commitments and I do not feel I can give the 100 per cent that the Trust Board role requires.”
Following David’s departure, there remain twelve Trust Board members (ten elected members and two co-opted members). Ahead of the Trust’s next AGM (to be held in December 2005), there will be four Trust Board positions up for grabs for anyone interested in contributing to the business of running City. The opportunity is there for people to volunteer and ‘make a difference’, to get actively involved in the business of running York City.
The Trust Board is the representative body of the supporters. The Trust is the majority owner of the Football Club and is the body that decides who to appoint to the Club Board. In turn, the Club Directors are responsible for the running of the Football Club.
Thirdly, Terry Herbert has relinquished his position as the Trust Treasurer due to other work commitments. The Treasurer role involves maintaining the Trust’s accounting records, overseeing expenditure and the fulfilment of financial requirements including statutory obligations. Terry had originally served as a Trust Board member for two years until December 2004 and had then agreed to continue to act as Trust Treasurer. Going forward, existing Trust Board member Ian Hey will fulfil the role, with support from Peter Rookes (also a Trust Board member) in respect of the Trust’s annual accounts, that will be collated and published later this year.
Commenting on the changes to the make-up of the Trust Board, Trust Vice-Chairman and Club Director Steve Beck commented:
“On behalf of the Boards of both the Trust and the Club, I would like to thank Richard, David and Terry for their contributions in helping to sustain and improve our football club. In particular, Richard has helped establish City’s Trust as one of the most successful in the country.” Steve added “York City is now one of only a small handful of clubs owned and controlled by its supporters. The input of volunteers is an absolutely essential requirement for the future of York City and I would like to encourage anyone out there prepared to volunteer to make themselves known to us. The opportunity is there for people make a difference for the future benefit of York City.” |
